Meet the Mind Behind The Red New Deal

The Red New Deal was written by someone who lived through real-world socialism and later built a life and career in the United States. Get to know the author whose personal history and legal background shaped this first-hand account.
A life shaped by two systems
Dmitri Dubograev grew up in the former USSR and later became an American information technology and corporate attorney. His journey from Belarus to the United States, from Soviet daily life to advising on legal reforms and corporate matters, gives him a unique vantage point on freedom, control, and the real cost of “free” promises. The Red New Deal brings together his memories, legal experience, and concern for how quickly people can forget what socialism looks like in practice.

The story behind the book
First-hand experience of Soviet life
Dmitri does not write about socialism as an abstract idea. He lived through shortages, control, and restrictions in the USSR and saw how official narratives differed from everyday reality. His stories in The Red New Deal come from lived experience, not second-hand theory.
Legal and human rights perspective
With a background in law in both Belarus and the United States, Dmitri has written on corporate law and human rights in the former Soviet Union and advised on legal reform projects. This legal lens helps him connect personal memories with broader questions of rights, power, and responsibility.
Bridging East and West
Having taken part in one of the early USA–USSR student exchanges and later working with clients and organizations across borders, Dmitri understands both Soviet and Western cultures from the inside. The Red New Deal reflects this dual perspective, comparing past and present trends in a way that invites critical thinking rather than blind acceptance.
