The Red New Deal was written by someone who lived through real-world socialism and later built a life and career in the United States. Get to know Dmitri Dubograev and the experiences that shaped this book.
Why this story could only be told by Dmitri Dubograev
The Red New Deal is not theory or second-hand commentary. It is a personal account from someone who grew up in the Soviet system, studied law in Belarus, and later continued his legal career in the United States. Dmitri Dubograev connects his lived experience under socialism with what he sees happening in modern Western democracies, inviting you to think critically about what is really at stake when everything is promised for “free.”

“My goal is to share what I have lived through so readers can think for themselves about the real cost of ideas that sound free.”
A life shaped by two systems
First-hand experience of life in the USSR
Dmitri Dubograev did not learn about socialism from textbooks. He lived it. His memories of daily routines, shortages, control, and restrictions give the book its concrete, human perspective.
Legal background in two very different systems
Having studied law in Belarus and later in the United States, Dmitri has seen how legal systems shape freedom, responsibility, and power. That dual perspective informs the way he compares real socialism with current trends in Western democracies.
Focus on critical thinking, not slogans
The Red New Deal is written to encourage you to ask questions, look past slogans, and consider the real cost of ideas that sound appealing on the surface. Dmitri’s role is to share what he has seen and lived, so you can draw your own conclusions.
Questions about the author
Who is Dmitri Dubograev?
Dmitri Dubograev is an American information technology and corporate attorney of Belarusian descent. Why did Dmitri Dubograev write The Red New Deal?
Dmitri wrote The Red New Deal to compare his first-hand experience of life under real-world socialism in the USSR with modern pro-socialist trends in Western democracies. By sharing concrete stories and memories, he aims to show how quickly certain ideas can gain support when people do not fully understand their cost to personal freedom.
What perspective does the book offer that is different from other books on socialism?
The book combines personal memories from the USSR with Dmitri’s later work as a lawyer and advisor in Eastern Europe and the United States. Instead of focusing on abstract theory, it looks at everyday life, shortages, control, and the rewriting of history, and then connects those experiences to current cultural and political trends.
